El Planetario de Bogotá es un escenario cultural y de divulgación científica del Idartes que busca estimular los procesos creativos y el interés por el quehacer científico en el país con epicentro en el distrito, a través de la exploración de diversos lenguajes de comunicación.
Fue inaugurado en 1969 y es considerado un hito arquitectónico de la ciudad por su particular forma de caracol. Su domo de 23 metros de diámetro cuenta con el sistema de proyección digital más moderno de América Latina, permitiendo no solo ampliar las posibilidades visuales e inmersivas de este espacio, sino ser más ambientalmente sustentable.
En su inicio, el Planetario de Bogotá fue la sede de importantes centros culturales como el Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá, la Cinemateca Distrital, el Museo de Desarrollo Urbano y de la Galería Santa Fe, que actualmente cuentan con sus propias sedes. Adicionalmente, hoy en día es el epicentro de la Línea de Arte, Ciencia y Tecnología del Idartes, albergando a sus dos programas Plataforma Bogotá y CKWEB.
The Bogotá District Planetarium is a cultural and scientific dissemination center that belongs to the District Institute of Arts – Idartes. It seeks to stimulate creative processes and an interest for scientific work in the country through the exploration of various communication languages.
It was inaugurated in 1969 and is considered an architectural landmark of the city due to its particular snail shape. Its 23 meter diameter dome has the most modern digital projection system in Latin America, allowing not only to expand the visual and immersive possibilities of this space, but also to be more environmentally sustainable.
In its beginning, the Planetarium was the headquarters of important cultural centers such as the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá, the Cinematheque, and the Santa Fe Gallery, which currently have their own locations. Additionally, the Planetarium is the epicenter of the Idartes’ Line of Art, Science and Technology, hosting its two programs Plataforma Bogotá and CKWEB.
