ABI (Artist Breakfast Institute) es un proyecto colectivo, colaborativo y participativo, co-creado por un grupo de artistes de profesión y artistes empíricos de diferentes regiones y culturas americanas, todes radicados actualmente en Bogotá, Colombia. Algunos somos migrantes tanto por causa del conflicto armado como por decisiones propias y otros no hemos vivido nunca fuera de Bogotá, hablamos diferentes idiomas y dialectos, nos identificamos en un amplio abanico en cuanto a géneros e identidades sexuales y nos une un interés común por el otro. Todos estamos en busca de información sobre otras formas de habitar este mundo.
En septiembre de 2020 empezamos a reunirnos con más artistes en un jardín de 100 m² en el barrio Alameda, un Airbnb con una cocina abierta en el barrio Teusaquillo y un grupo de chat de WhatsApp. Durante los últimos 7 meses compartimos, cocinamos y digerimos juntes alimentos, historias, textos, música, tiempo y saberes. Esto inicialmente con la intención de crear una comunidad temporal abierta de apoyo mutuo e intercambio a través del arte y la cocina. Buscando allí una cura para la desorganización y soledad ocasionadas por el aislamiento y la crisis mundial actual. Juntos cocinamos, mezclamos y transformamos nuestras realidades con ritmos, ingredientes y recetas provenientes de lugares diversos y distantes, recordamos e invocamos, a través de bebidas y alimentos enseñanzas de territorios y cuerpos que tenemos lejos. Rompimos fronteras materiales y conceptuales creando recetas colaborativas que nos situaron en una posición crítica frente a nuestra relación con los alimentos y la geografía.
ABI (Artist Breakfast Institute) is a collective, collaborative and participatory project, co-created by a group of artists by profession and empirical artists from different American regions and cultures, all currently based in Bogota, Colombia. Some of us are migrants because of both the armed conflict and our own decisions and others have never lived outside of Bogota, we speak different languages and dialects, we identify ourselves in a wide range in terms of genders and sexual identities and we are united by a common interest in the other. We are all looking for information about other ways of inhabiting this world.
In September 2020 we started meeting with more artists in a 100 m² (1,076.39 ft2) garden in the Alameda neighborhood, an Airbnb with an open kitchen in the Teusaquillo neighborhood and a WhatsApp chat group. During the last 7 months we have shared, cooked and digested food, stories, texts, music, time and knowledge together. This initially with the intention of creating a temporary open community of mutual support and exchange through art and cooking. Looking there for a cure for the disorganization and loneliness caused by isolation and the current global crisis. Together we cook, mix and transform our realities with rhythms, ingredients and recipes from diverse and distant places, we remember and invoke, through drinks and food, teachings of territories and bodies that we have far away.
